Sacred Silence – Good Friday Reflections

On solemn shores of time’s unbroken tide,
Where shadows lengthen, and sorrows abide,
We gather in reverence, hearts bowed low,
To ponder the depths of a sacred woe.
Good Friday dawns with a somber hue,
A day of remembrance, tried and true,
Where echoes of agony pierce the air,
And love’s sacrifice, beyond compare.
In churches solemn, candles flicker,
As prayers ascend, hearts grow thicker,
With the weight of sorrow, the burden borne,
On this day of days, the world was torn.
In the hush of the sanctuary’s embrace,
We trace the lines of redeeming grace,
The cross, the symbol, stark and plain,
Where love and mercy forever reign.
Through hymns and readings, the story told,
Of betrayal, anguish, of hearts grown cold,
Yet in the midst of darkness, a glimmering light,
A promise of hope, shining bright.
For Good Friday’s tale is not one of despair,
But of redemption’s triumph, beyond compare,
In the depth of suffering, love was revealed,
A love unbounded, unconcealed.
So let us gather, in this sacred space,
To contemplate the mystery, embrace,
The silence speaks, the cross proclaims,
On Good Friday, love’s eternal flames.
