In ancient days where love held sway,

Kamadeva’s grace did brightly play,

In Khajuraho’s monuments fair,

His essence lingered in the air.

But as the ages onward flowed,

Love’s open display would erode,

Middle Ages saw a veiled view,

Public affection bid adieu.

Yet in the modern tide’s embrace,

Valentine’s emerged, a newfound grace,

From screens of TV to love letters penned,

A cultural shift, a trend to amend.

India’s heart, reluctant at first,

To Cupid’s arrow, felt a thirst,

Resistance from tradition’s hold,

But change unfurls, a story bold.

Religious fervor, cultural cries,

From Hindu, Muslim, Christian ties,

Valentine’s deemed a foreign face,

A challenge to tradition’s grace.

Rejecting love in public sight,

To keep tradition’s flame alight.

Yet amidst the clash of old and new,

Valentine’s Day breaks through,

A symbol of love, both old and new,

In hearts of many, it finds its due.

But controversy still remains,

Postcolonial critique strains,

Valentine’s Day, a tool of might,

For Western culture’s spreading light.

Cow Hug Day, a twist unique,

A call to hearts, a gentle tweak,

A reminder of roots, traditions deep,

In the embrace of creatures, we find peace.

As debates rage on, passions high,

Valentine’s Day still fills the sky,

A celebration, love’s sweet call,

In India’s story, one and all.
